I have adopted a Scottish Fold cat. She’s been yelling while pooping for about a week. Also diarrhea. Has anyone had a similar situation before and can advise me on this?

Some cats get this disease in infancy. The same thing happened to my cat. Thank goodness it didn’t do any harm, but I still say see a vet.
If your cat is hurting and screaming while pooping, it may be a sign of a medical issue and it’s important to consult a veterinarian as soon as possible. There are a number of potential causes for this behavior, including:
Constipation: If your cat is having difficulty passing stool, it can be painful and cause them to scream.
Anal glands: Cats have two small glands near their anus that can become blocked or infected, causing pain and discomfort during bowel movements.
Colitis: This is an inflammation of the colon that can cause abdominal pain and discomfort.
Bladder or urinary tract infection: This can cause discomfort while passing urine and may also affect bowel movements.
Tumors: In some cases, tumors in the rectal or colon area can cause pain and discomfort during bowel movements.
It’s important to consult with a veterinarian to determine the underlying cause of the issue and to receive proper treatment. The veterinarian may recommend a physical examination, blood tests, X-rays or ultrasound, and possibly a stool sample analysis to determine the cause of your cat’s discomfort.
In the meantime, you can try to make your cat’s litter box more comfortable by adding a bit more litter or providing a box with low sides. Keep your cat hydrated and provide a high-fiber diet to help prevent constipation.
