I adore these blue eyed Ragdoll cats and would like to adopt one. Are Ragdoll cats hypoallergenic? Their fur looks very nice, but is it a problem for allergies?

Ragdoll cats are not considered to be hypoallergenic. Although they have long, silky fur, they still produce dander and allergens, which can cause an allergic reaction in people who are sensitive to these proteins. Some people with mild allergies may be able to tolerate Ragdolls, but others may have severe reactions. The eye color, blue or otherwise, has no relation to the hypoallergenic property of a cat. It is worth noting that there is no such thing as a completely hypoallergenic cat or dog as all of them produce some level of dander, saliva and urine that can trigger an allergic reaction.
Ragdoll cats are known for their beautiful blue eyes, but whether or not they are hypoallergenic is not a definitive answer. Although Ragdoll cats have long, soft fur, they do shed, which can trigger allergic reactions in some people. Additionally, it’s not just the fur that causes allergies, but also proteins found in a cat’s saliva and dander (dead skin cells), which can be spread through shedding or grooming. Some people may be less allergic to certain breeds of cats, but there is no such thing as a completely hypoallergenic cat. It’s always recommended to spend time with the cat before bringing it home, to check for allergic reactions.
